OVERVIEW
Ever heard of Martin Luther, Huldrych Zwingli, or John Calvin? On the Protestant Reformation tour, your group will see these champions of the Christian faith come to life as they discuss Luther in Wittenberg, Calvin in Geneva, and Zwingli in Zurich. The stories of the Protestant Reformation will have new life breathed into them as you journey to these cities where it all started.
ITINERARY

DAY 1: TRAVEL DAY
DAY 2: GENEVA
- Arrive in Geneva, meet your JE Tour Director after customs, and depart for the city
- Visit the International Museum of the Reformation
- Afternoon guided walking tour of Geneva to visit the Reformation Wall, which commemorates Geneva’s significant role in the Reformation
- Exterior visit to St. Peter’s Cathedral, where John Calvin preached daily, every other week, from 1536-1564
- Dinner in the city
- Evening walk to view Geneva’s famed Jet d’Eau fountain located in the midst of Lake Geneva
- Conclude the day and return to hotel
DAY 3: ZURICH
- Breakfast
- Depart for Zurich via coach (3.5-4hr estimate)
- Lunch & shopping time
- Walking tour to view several of the city’s major churches including Wasserkirche, Fraumunster, and Grossmunster (where the preaching of Huldrych Zwingli initiated the Swiss-German Reformation in Switzerland)
- Dinner
DAY 4: STRASBOURG
- Breakfast
- Depart via coach for Strasbourg (3hr estimate)
- See the State of the Reformers in the University and the historic quarter known as La Petite-France
- Visit the Saint-Thomas Church
- Lunch and free time
- Visit the Strasbourg Cathedral
- Dinner
- Conclude the day and return to hotel
DAY 5: HEIDELBERG / WORMS
- Breakfast
- Depart via coach for Heidelberg (2hr estimate)
- Morning visit to Heidelberg with time to explore the town
- Lunch
- Depart for Worms via coach (1hr estimate)
- Afternoon visit to the site of the Worms Debates, the Reformation monument of Luther, Cathedral of St. Peter, and Trinity Church
- Dinner
- Conclude the day with hotel check-in in Frankfurt
DAY 6: ERFURT / WARTBURG CASTLE
- Breakfast
- Depart via coach for Wartburg Castle (3hr estimate)
- Morning self-guided visit to Wartburg Castle
- Transfer to Erfurt (1hr estimate)
- Lunch
- Afternoon guided visit to the Augustinian Monastery, where Luther studied
- Dinner
- Check-in at hotel
DAY 7: LUTHERSTADT-WITTENBURG / BERLIN
- Breakfast
- Depart for Lutherstadt-Wittenburg (2.5hr estimate)
- Morning guided walking tour of Wittenberg with exterior visits to Schlosskirche, where Luther nailed the 95 Thesis, and Stadtkirche St. Marin
- Lunch
- Afternoon self-guided visit to Lutherhalle Museum (Luther’s house)
- Depart for Berlin (2hr estimate)
- Arrive at hotel for check-in
- Dinner
DAY 8: TRAVEL DAY
- Depart for airport and home
