OVERVIEW
There’s no better way to learn a new language than to experience the culture up close and personal! Our Language Immersion in Costa Rica program allows students to improve their Spanish conversation skills, reinforce correct grammar and expand vocabulary. Partnered with classroom learning, this trip will help students experience the Latin American culture through hands-on learning opportunities including Latin dance lessons and cooking classes.
ITINERARY
DAY 1: TRAVEL DAY / LANGUAGE TASK
- Arrive and meet your JE Guide at the Costa Rica Airport
- Head up the mountain to a local coffee farm visit (coffee tour if time permits)
- Check into hotel
- Dinner at a local Costa Rican restaurant (order in Spanish of course)
- Reflection on the day and what you learned
DAY 2: SPANISH PRACTICE / FOLK-DANCING
- Breakfast at hotel
- Language Institute
- Lunch at school
- Additional classes
- Folk-dancing lessons
- Dinner on the mountaintop and folk dancing show
- Reflect on the day and what you learned
DAY 3: SPANISH PRACTICE / TRADITIONAL COOKING / OXCART FACTORY
- Breakfast at hotel
- Language Institute
- Lunch at school
- Additional classes
- Cooking lessons
- Transfer to Sarchi for souvenir shopping
- Dinner at a local Costa Rican restaurant – use your Spanish skills as you enjoy dinner
- Reflect on the day and what you learned
DAY 4: SPANISH PRACTICE / CHILDREN’S ACTIVITY
- Breakfast at hotel
- Language Institute
- Lunch at school
- Spend the afternoon using your Spanish as you share God’s love with the children at one of our local ministry sites
- Dinner at a local Costa Rican restaurant (order in Spanish of course)
- Reflect on the day and what you learned
DAY 5: COFFEE TOUR / WHITE WATER RAFTING / CANOPY ZIP-LINE
- Breakfast at hotel
- White water rafting*
- Lunch
- Canopy Tour (zip-line)*
- Transfer back to San Jose
- Dinner at hotel
- Reflect on the day and what you learned
*Can exchange both Canopy and Rafting for Catamaran Cruise.
DAY 6: TRAVEL DAY
- Breakfast (if flight time permits)
- Transfer to Airport
- Fly home

- Make it a 7-day trip by adding an additional day at the school.
