OVERVIEW
This all-encompassing tour will be sure to capture your group’s attention and imagination as they gain a new appreciation for our nation’s history through a Biblical worldview. On the Foundations of our Nation tour, you will explore the historic beginnings of our country, and how faith permeates our past and present. Your group will start with our seats of government in Washington D.C. before going back in time visiting the living museums of Jamestown Settlement and Colonial Williamsburg.
ITINERARY
DAY 1: TRAVEL DAY / SMITHSONIAN MUSEUMS / ARCHIVES / TIDAL BASIN MEMORIALS
- After meeting your JE Tour Director at the airport, transfer to Washington DC
- Spend the afternoon exploring the Smithsonian Museums and the National Archives to see the Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, and the US Constitution
- Dinner
- Evening guided walking tour of the Tidal Basin Memorials: Jefferson, Martin Luther King Jr., and FDR Memorials
- Check into hotel & conclude the day with devotions
DAY 2: CAPITOL HILL / MUSEUM OF THE BIBLE / WHITE HOUSE / MALL MEMORIALS
- Breakfast at hotel
- Start your morning on Capitol Hill praying for the leadership of our country
- Interior guided tour of the US Capitol Building (by appointment)*
- Interior self-guided visit to the Library of Congress
- Exterior photo stop on the steps of the Supreme Court
- Lunch
- Afternoon self-guided visit to the Museum of the Bible
- Afternoon exterior visit to the White House*
- Dinner
- Evening guided walking tour of the Mall Memorials: Lincoln, Korea, Vietnam, World War II, and Washington Monument
- Conclude the day with devotions*Congressman meet-and-greets and interior White House tour organized by group.
DAY 3: ARLINGTON NATIONAL CEMETERY / MOUNT VERNON / WILLIAMSBURG

- Breakfast at hotel
- Remember those who have fought for our country during a guided walking tour of Arlington National Cemetery
- John F. Kennedy’s gravesite and the Eternal Flame
- Witness the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier*
- Quick visit to the Marine Corps Iwo Jima Memorial
- Lunch
- Afternoon visit to George Washington’s Mount Vernon, including an interior guided tour of the mansion, and time to explore the grounds, museums, and education center
- Depart for Williamsburg
- Dinner en route
- Check into Williamsburg hotel and conclude the day with devotions

DAY 4: COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG
- Breakfast
- Explore the world’s largest living history museum of Colonial Williamsburg! This morning you will have a certified Williamsburg guide take you to the Capitol, Governor’s Palace, Duke of Gloucester Street, and more!
- Lunch in Colonial Williamsburg
- Continue to explore Williamsburg on your own! Visit the shops of the town – blacksmith, milliner, silversmith, cabinetmaker, or apothecary. Immerse yourself in the stories of daily life in the 18th century
- Dinner at a Colonial Tavern
- This evening, the group can choose from a variety of evening programs in Williamsburg
- Conclude the day with devotions
DAY 5: JAMESTOWN / TRAVEL DAY
- Breakfast
- Morning guided tour of Jamestown Settlement where you will step into the lives of 17th century Virginia, in the first permanent English colony in America. Walk through a Powhatan Village, see the ship replicas that brought the English to America, and see a recreation of the Jamestown Fort.
- On your way to the airport, reflect on your week, and where you have experienced/seen God during your tour
STAY LONGER?
- Add day trips to Gettysburg, Monticello, St. John’s Church – Richmond, Philadelphia, and Ministry
