OVERVIEW
On the Explore Philly & NYC tour, your group will have a blast exploring two of the oldest cities in America! Kick off your journey in the City of Brotherly Love where your group will visit historic sites including the Franklin Institute Science Museum, Congress Hall, and the Rocky steps at the Philadelphia Museum of Art before serving the local community with a day of ministry. Continue on to NYC where your group will feel the pulse of the City That Never Sleeps as you explore famous sites including Rockefeller Center, Times Square, and the Statue of Liberty. You won’t want to miss a moment on this exciting northeastern journey!
ITINERARY
DAY 1: TRAVEL DAY / FRANKLIN INSTITUTE / ROCKY STEPS / FAIRMONT PARK
- Arrive in Philadelphia & meet your JE Tour Director
- Self-guided visit to the Franklin Institute Science Museum
- Visit the “Rocky Steps” & attempt your best impression
- Late afternoon stroll through Fairmont Park
- Dinner in the area
- Depart for hotel & check-in
DAY 2: CITY HALL / CONGRESS HALL / FRANKLIN COURT / CHRIST CHURCH / NATIONAL CONSTITUTION CENTER
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Morning visit to City Hall and Congress Hall
- Walk over to visit Franklin Court & the Franklin Post Office
- Head over for an exterior visit to Christ Church in the Old City area
- Lunch on your own
- Enjoy a visit to Betsy Ross House & a self-guided tour of Elfreth’s Alley (museum not included)
- Afternoon self-guided visit to the National Constitution Center
- Enjoy Independence National Historic Park & the Liberty Bell Center
- Dinner in the area
- Return to hotel for devotions
DAY 3: TRANSFER TO NYC / MINISTRY / MIDTOWN / TIMES SQUARE
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Depart for NYC & have a safety orientation with your JE Tour Director
- Check into hotel & drop off luggage
- Lunch on your own
- Ministry with a local organization
- Walking tour of Midtown Manhattan (Bryant Park, Chrysler Building, Grand Central Station, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, & Rockefeller Center)
- Dinner in the area
- Time to explore Times Square
- Return to hotel for devotions
DAY 4: ELLIS ISLAND / LOWER MANHATTAN / TIMES SQUARE / EMPIRE STATE BUILDING
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Ferry to Ellis Island Immigration Museum for self-guided visit (pass by Statue of Liberty)
- Lunch in Lower Manhattan on your own
- Walking tour of Lower Manhattan (Trinity Church, Battery Park, Wall Street, New York Stock Exchange, Federal Hall, St. Paul’s Chapel, & 9/11 Memorial – museum admission not included)
- Shopping in Little Italy/Chinatown
- Walking tour of Soho & Greenwich Village
- Dinner in the area
- Visit the 86th-floor observatory of the Empire State Building
- Devotions at the hotel
DAY 5: MUSEUM / CENTRAL PARK / TRAVEL DAY
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Check-out & store luggage
- Depart for a self-guided visit to Metropolitan Museum of Art OR the Guggenheim
- Lunch on your own
- Time to explore 5th Avenue/ Central Park (optional activities: shopping, Central Park Zoo, rowboat rides, carriage rides, etc)
- Return to your hotel for airport transfer
