OVERVIEW

Join us on this incredible week-long experience designed to minister directly to the children of the local migrant workers in South Florida. Ministry opportunities will be focusing on arts and crafts, Vacation Bible School activities, prayer time and light construction. Leave your mark on this community for Christ with JE!

ITINERARY

DAY 1: TRAVEL DAY / MOVIE

  • Travel to South Florida and meet your JE Tour Director
  • Check into a local church that will serve as your ministry housing for this trip
  • Drive to a local supermarket and purchase your group’s groceries for the week
  • Dinner and devotions
  • Enjoy a movie together as a group this evening

DAY 2: MINISTRY WORK / GATOR FARM

  • Breakfast and devotions each morning
  • Each day you will spend time at a local center that provides daycare for migrant workers in South Florida. You will use your time focusing on the needs of the center and providing activities and services such as:
    • Vacation Bible School, face painting, water day (water balloons, squirt guns, etc.), reading books to children, passing out snacks, leading prayer time, playing games on the playground, maintenance at the centers (painting and light construction)
  • Lunch
  • Continue service projects this afternoon before departing for enjoying a local gator farm and airboat ride
  • Dinner before returning to your ministry housing for the evening

DAY 3: MINISTRY WORK / SNORKELING

  • Breakfast and devotions each morning
  • Each day you will spend time at a local center that provides daycare for migrant workers in South Florida. You will use your time focusing on the needs of the center and providing activities and services such as:
    • Vacation Bible School, face painting, water day (water balloons, squirt guns, etc.), reading books to children, passing out snacks, leading prayer time, playing games on the playground, maintenance at the centers (painting and light construction)
  • Lunch will be packed at your ministry housing and eaten onsite each day
  • Continue service projects this afternoon before departing for John Pennekamp State Park
  • Experience the beautiful aquatic life John Pennekamp State Park has to offer as you snorkel in its waters
  • Dinner before returning to your ministry housing for the evening

DAY 4: MINISTRY WORK / ISLAMORADA FISH COMPANY

  • Breakfast and devotions each morning
  • Each day you will spend time at a local center that provides daycare for migrant workers in South Florida. You will use your time focusing on the needs of the center and providing activities and services such as:
    • Vacation Bible School, face painting, water day (water balloons, squirt guns, etc.), reading books to children, passing out snacks, leading prayer time, playing games on the playground, maintenance at the centers (painting and light construction)
  • Lunch will be packed at your ministry housing and eaten onsite each day
  • Continue service projects this afternoon before departing for Islamorada, FL
  • Stop along the way for a tarpon feeding opportunity
  • Dinner in Islamorada and enjoy the sunset together as a group before returning to your ministry lodging

DAY 5: TRAVEL DAY

  • Breakfast and devotions
  • Additional service projects if time permits
  • Begin your journey home

IMPORTANT TRIP INFORMATION

  • Must bring air mattress / cot, linens, sleeping bag, towels, toiletries, etc.
  • Kitchen is available for use at your ministry housing
